Samak Chawal ki Kheer is the perfect dessert during a Navratri vrat. This recipe uses Samvat rice or Samak Chawal or Parsai ke Chaawal which are tiny, round grains belonging to the millet family. Ingredients of Samak Chawal/ Moraiyo ki Kheer
- Prepare 3 cups of Milk.
- You need 1/2 cup of samwat/Moraiyo /Sama Rice.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of Sugar.
- You need 1 tsp of Cardamoms powder.
- It's 1 tsp of Milk Kesari Masala.
- You need as needed of Almond, Pista for garnishing.
Samak Chawal is high in digestible fiber and is. samak ki kheer. Stir and simmer for a minute or two. Serve vrat ke chawal ki kheer hot or warm garnished with some rose petals or saffron threads or chopped. Yet another delicious way to fast!
Samak Chawal/ Moraiyo ki Kheer instructions
- Soak Moriyo/ Sama Rice for 15 minutes in normal water.
- Take milk in a deep pan and bring to a boil..
- Add sugar.
- Add kesari milk masala.
- Add cardamoms or it’s powder.
- Add soaked Moraiyo or Sama chaval and stri it occasionally.
- Cook over low flame till sugar is dissolved and moraiyo gets double in size and also milk gets thick consistency.
- Make sure that Moraiyo is properly cooked. Transfer it onto serving dish and garnish with almonds and pista. Served it hot or chilled.
We make many types of kheer/ payasam during festivals and usually with dal and rice or other ingredients, so I make these on other days too as I find the samvat chawal cooks well and quickly , besides being healthy too. So fasting with healthy foods in a yummy way! Sama ke chawal are also known as barnyard millet or samo/moraiyo. This kheer is especially made during fasts/vrat. Sama rice gives the same texture and feel as the normal rice.
