Sheera or Sooji halwa is a great indian sweet made during vratham days or any special occasion. It is a rich, clean sweet made with semolina, i added some mangoes since they are in season right now. Everyone in the family loves it. Mango kesari/sheera is an Indian pudding made with semolina, sugar, dry fruits & mango chunks or puree that is added for flavour and texture.

  1. Heat 2 tsp ghee in a heavy bottomed pan and roast dry fruits till they are golden brown..
  2. Now add rava/semolina to the same pan and saute till light golden brown. Boil 1/2 cup of water and pour it in roasted rava. Mix well. Cover the pan and cook for 2 – 3 minutes. Let rava absorbs all the water..
  3. Now add sugar and mix well. Avoid lumps, if any. Add mango pulp, mix well and cover the pan. Cook for 2 minutes until the rava is soft. Keep stirring to avoid lumps. Cook till it thickens..

Course: Breakfast, Dessert Mango kesari or mango sheera, which ever way it is called is delicious sweet done with semolina/ rava/ sooji. Rava kesari is always a hit in family. After trying paal kesari and fruit kesari, this is one I haven't tried before. Without any artificial flavour and colour, it turns out really flavourful and looks.
